Why Google Apps Premier Edition helps to recruit good people.

Part of Romneya’s vision is that companies and organizations are facing underestimated challenges:

  • Globalization- The EU has made it clear that its future is to be found in the information society.
    Unfortunately, Europeans will be competing in that area with others like China, Brazil and India. ‘Size does matter‘ when you think about the huge skilled, motivated work force available in these countries. One percent of top-notch IT people in India is simply a lot more than one percent of top-notch IT people in a small country like Belgium…
  • Eco-awareness (and eco-taxation)- Eco or climate related matters will become more important in the Western world. Government taxation will slowly start to punish activities that impact the environment –traffic, business travel– even more, in favor of public transport, smaller company cars and/or virtual means of gathering.
  • Aging- Especially for the Western world the impact of aging will soon become clear. Dutch government officials already publicly stated that from 2014-2015 onwards they will have a hard time recruiting younger people for their administration.

Kevin Wheeler, the President and Founder of Global Learning Resources, recently blogged about why recruiting good people will get harder and harder:  “But Gen Y (those under 30) are the change agents. They do not really want to work for any organization but especially those with layers of hierarchy and reams of policies and procedures. They want flexible, virtual work.

Add to this the importance of work/life balance for this age group and it should be pretty clear that current IT tools, often based on software concepts of the eighties, are far from ideal.

Collaboration and messaging combined with extreme ease of use, being able to work from any place with any type of device, are core concepts of Google Apps.

Each day again we meet customers who have embraced this mentality switch and we where see their creative uses of the Google Apps environment to collaborate and share information with others even faster and in a more productive ways, at a lesser cost.

That is why we feel that Google Apps is an enabler to convince good people that they have found the right organization to work for!
