Desktop notifications for Gmail and chat

Gmail desktop notificationsUnless you are very disciplined and only open your mail at certain times of the days to avoid disturbances, mostly likely you will want to have notifications of new mail or chat. If you use Gmail with a browser, you need to use external applications to do so: the Google Talk client, Gmail Notifr or Gmail Growl.

Chrome users can now enable HTML5 desktop notifications for new mail and chat. But you have to activate the feature in Gmail!

Yesterday Google announced its intentions to acquire Norwegian Global IP Solutions.
